Groth-Østergaard Animation is centered around the work of Jesper Østergaard, Originator, director and animator

Jesper does all the visuals and graphics. As graphic designer Jesper has a long history of filmmaking, since he started out as a puppets maker for films and commercials in the 1990s. Over the years, the physical models has tranformed into 3D moddeling, but the offspring in the physical modelling lays the forundation for the ambience so characteristic for Jespers animations.

Jesper has a life-long, geeky passion for History, ever since he, at the age of 11, was building toy soldiers and dioramas as the youngest member of the Danish Society of Military History.

For more than a decade Jesper has focused his creative energy exclusively on the making of appealing historical universes and narratives, in a high artistic quality and with meticulous historical and archaeological precision.

We strive to bring ambience to History, to stimulate curiosity and knowledge of our common past.

Our target group is most often kids and youngsters. We take off from their daily based leisure use of digital platforms and social media to create compelling universes and include the recipient into the experience.

Due to our specialization in communicating historical epocs and events, we have a long experience in collaborating with historians, archaeologists and other history geeks. Our productions are always factually correct - all though we might very well mix with fiction for the narrative flow..

“Unlike all the other art forms, film is able to seize and render the passage of time, to stop it, almost to possess it in infinity. I’d say that film is the sculpting of time.”

– Andrei Tarkovsky
