We strive to bring ambience to History, to stimulate curiosity and knowledge of our common past. Groth-Østergaard Animation is centered around the work of Jesper Østergaard, Originator, director and animator
Jesper does all the visuals and graphics. He is educated as a graphic designer and has a long history of filmmaking, since he started out as a puppets maker for films and commercials in the 1990s. Over the years, the physical models has tranformed into 3D moddeling, but the offspring in the physical modelling lays the forundation for the ambience so characteristic for Jespers animations.
Jesper has a life-long, geeky passion for History, ever since he, at the age of 11, was building toy soldiers and dioramas as the youngest member of the Danish Society of Military History.
In recent years Jesper has focused his creative energy exclusively on the making of appealing historical universes and narratives, in a high artistic quality and with meticulous historical and archaeological precision.
“Unlike all the other art forms, film is able to seize and render the passage of time, to stop it, almost to possess it in infinity. I’d say that film is the sculpting of time.”
– Andrei Tarkovsky
